Finally…… even though some of us may long for more sunny days, spring is sprung!
Along with new life bursting out all over in creation, churches everywhere celebrate new life in Christ!
(I’d love to give credit for this song, if anyone knows its origin?) Found it in my files.
It’s Easter! It’s Easter! The season of spring.
It’s Easter! It’s Easter! The birds start to sing.
The sun, it is shining, the sky, it is blue.
The world comes alive with a hope that is new.
It’s Easter! It’s Easter! The stone’s rolled away!
It’s Easter! It’s Easter! This is the Lord’s Day.
New faith for the doubter, new joy to the sad,
Our Savior walks with us to make our hearts glad.
It’s Easter! It’s Easter! Christ lives once again!
It’s Easter! It’s Easter! God’s loudest “Amen”!
We sing “Hallelujah,” we sing, “Praise the Lord,”
Who raised up our Jesus and spoke the last word.
Yes, here at Zion Lutheran Church we celebrate the greatest story ever told—JESUS LOVED US SO MUCH THAT HE WOULD RATHER DIE THAN LIVE WITHOUT OUR LOVE!!
Jesus’ tomb is empty, and God’s message to us is that nothing can stop the overpowering love of God through His Son, Jesus Christ our Savior!
Holy Week special events are coming up, and you’re cordially invited to remember Jesus’ life- saving and salvation events and to share the power of His Love as we remember!
Holy Week begins April 9th with Palm Sunday service at 9:30 am. Christians throughout the world remember Jesus’ triumphant entry into Jerusalem on a donkey, being proclaimed as the Messiah that He was. An enthusiastic crowd waved palm branches, and we’ll have the palm branches also to wave during a walk around the sanctuary and sing to His glory as the crowd of people than did back then.
Maundy Thursday, April 13h, at 6 pm, we celebrate the Last Supper remembering that He wanted us to remember Him in Holy Communion and in service to one another. A foot washing during that service reminds us to serve one another, in Jesus’ words, to “Do as I have done.”
Good Friday, April 14th, at 6 pm, honors Jesus’ death on the cross saving the world from sin, suffering, sickness and death. We deserved the blows and death He took for us, and the whole world remembers what He did in our place.
And, of course, Easter Sunday, April 16th, at 9:30 am, we celebrate and rejoice in the spiritual springtime that Jesus pours out to all who believe in Him! In the same magnificent way that we enjoy warmer weather, at least some sunny weather, flowers blossoming, green grass growing—in a far more significant way God lavishes His joy, peace, hope, love and new life at Easter on us as we proclaim the risen Lord!
The tomb is indeed empty, and all who believe in the risen Jesus will live with Him forever in eternal happiness! After the Easter Sunday service, we celebrate with a potluck, and all are invited, even if you don’t bring anything.
Come join us as we remember, relive and find renewal in re-experiencing the saving events of Jesus’ life that changed the whole world forever and for all eternity!
God loves you and so do I!
